Not professional advice

BuildPayTools provides calculation and workflow tools for informational purposes. Nothing on this site is legal, accounting, tax or financial advice, and using it does not create a professional relationship. For advice about a specific situation, consult a qualified professional.

Your contract governs

Retainage rates, release schedules, whether stored materials may be billed, allowable markup, prompt-payment deadlines and permitted late-payment charges are all set by your contract and, on public work, sometimes by statute. They vary considerably by state, project type and owner. Our tools compute what you enter — they do not tell you what your contract permits.

Verify before you submit

We test our formulas against fixed vectors and publish the arithmetic on every page so you can check it. You remain responsible for the figures you enter and for anything you submit to an owner, architect or lender.

AIA trademarks

BuildPayTools is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The American Institute of Architects (AIA). AIA documents and form names are trademarks of their respective owners. Our tools provide calculation and workflow assistance and are not official AIA forms.
